Belagavi: In a major boost to the city’s sports infrastructure, the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) has floated an e-tender for the construction of a synthetic turf multi-sports ground in the Belagavi North constituency. The project is estimated to cost ₹2.2 crore and aims to provide athletes with a modern facility that meets national standards.

The proposed ground will support multiple sports, including football, cricket and hockey, helping address the shortage of quality training and playing facilities in Belagavi and nearby areas. The synthetic turf surface will allow year-round usage and enhance opportunities for sports development in the region.
According to the tender notification, the project has been included under BUDA’s subsidised development works. It also incorporates a revenue sustainability plan to ensure long-term maintenance and operational viability, making the facility self-sustaining in the future.

The selected contractor will be required to complete the project within six months, taking the monsoon season into consideration.
The last date for submission of bids is July 17, while technical bids will be opened on July 18. The date for opening financial bids will be announced later through the state’s e-procurement portal.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve sports infrastructure in Belagavi and provide local athletes with access to better training facilities closer to home.
