The Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Legal Metrology Department, Belagavi District Administration, and the District Bar Association jointly organized the event. Ministers HK Patil, KH Muniyappa, and MP Jagadish Shettar attended the inauguration.
A Major Boost for Consumer Rights
Minister KH Muniyappa stressed the need for faster dispute resolution. “Consumers from North Karnataka and Kalyana Karnataka previously had to travel to Bengaluru to resolve their grievances. This process caused delays and additional expenses. Now, with the new bench, officials can address disputes from seven districts more efficiently,” he said.
This Belagavi mobile bench follows the successful launch of a similar facility in Kalaburagi two months ago. Officials believe these mobile benches will reduce delays in consumer dispute cases and ensure quicker justice.
Improved Consumer Protection Services
The government has committed to providing the new bench with the necessary infrastructure, staff, and technical support to operate smoothly. Consumers facing issues related to fraudulent trade practices, defective products, or unfair business transactions can now seek quick legal assistance without traveling long distances.
This initiative will help thousands of consumers in the region by making legal redressal more accessible and efficient.
