For the 2025-26 fiscal year, Karnataka will receive a total of ₹7,564 crore for railway projects, slightly higher than the ₹7,559 crore allocated in the previous budget. Somanna highlighted that the Railways is ready to invest even more if the state government expedites long-pending land acquisition processes. Delays in acquiring land and slow release of funds under cost-sharing agreements have affected several projects across the state.

Key Railway Allocations for Karnataka (2025-26):

  • Belagavi-Dharwad: ₹8 crore
  • Gadag-Wadi: ₹549 crore
  • Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davangere: ₹549 crore
  • Hubballi-Ankola: ₹4 crore
  • Bagalkot-Kudachi: ₹428 crore

Additionally, major funds will support railway line doubling, including ₹413 crore for the Hosapete-Vasco Da Gama line and ₹357 crore for the Whitefield-Bengaluru City-Krishnarajapuram quadrupling project.

Somanna stressed that faster fund releases and quick land acquisition would accelerate these projects. The budget allocation is set to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth in North Karnataka, particularly in Belagavi and Dharwad.
