The increased inflow into the Ghataprabha River has raised the reservoir’s water level, submerging the centuries-old temple located in Hunnur village of Hukkeri taluk.
The temple has remained at its original location since the Hidkal Reservoir was built in 1978, even after the village was relocated. Earlier this year, when the reservoir’s water level receded, the temple re-emerged and attracted thousands of devotees who visited to offer prayers.

Despite being submerged for years at a time, the temple structure has remained remarkably intact, making it a unique attraction for pilgrims and visitors alike. With water levels continuing to rise, the temple is once again completely submerged beneath the reservoir.
