With inflows from Maharashtra’s Western Ghats declining, water levels in the Krishna, Vedaganga and Dudhganga rivers have receded. As a result, three major bridges in the Chikodi subdivision, including the Kudachi-Ugar bridge connecting Karnataka and Maharashtra, were reopened for traffic on Saturday, easing travel for commuters.

The improved weather has also allowed farmers to resume agricultural activities such as pesticide spraying, weeding and tilling. However, some farmland along riverbanks remains affected due to flooding caused by water released from Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, water storage in the Hidkal and Malaprabha reservoirs has increased significantly, improving water availability for the coming months. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rainfall in the coming days.

Authorities have urged the public to stay away from dangerous waterfall spots, where restrictions remain in place for safety reasons.
