Belagavi, November 11:
Former Member of Parliament and BJP leader Anna Saheb Jolle has been elected as the President of the Belagavi District Central Cooperative (BDCC) Bank, while Congress MLA Bharamgouda Alagouda (Raju) Kage has been elected as the Vice-President. The election, which was not fought on strict party lines, saw the Jolle–Jarkiholi panel secure a major victory, winning 13 out of the 16 director posts, while the Katti–Savadi panel won the remaining seats. This marks the end of the Katti family’s two-decade-long control over the cooperative bank — one of the largest lending institutions in the district.

Minister Satish Jarkiholi stated that both panels had come to an understanding that the president’s post would be shared, with a possible leadership change after 30 months. However, Balachandra Jarkiholi denied any such arrangement, saying the elected duo should continue if they perform well.
He praised Anna Saheb Jolle as the “Manmohan Singh of Belagavi,” highlighting his expertise in banking and cooperative laws. Jolle, a professional banker, said he would use his experience to strengthen the bank and enhance its growth.
Founded in 1919, the Belagavi DCC Bank has grown into a major cooperative financial institution with 100 branches, ₹2,842 crore in deposits, a working capital of ₹4,078 crore, and an impressive loan recovery rate of 96.84%. The bank has provided loans worth over ₹1,356 crore to 3.4 lakh farmers, along with financial support to several cooperative and private sugar factories across the district.
