Speaking to the media after visiting the APMC yard, the minister said efforts were underway to resolve the issue amicably while safeguarding farmers’ interests. He clarified that existing laws do not permit private wholesale markets, but the government could consider setting up a supplementary APMC market yard if required.

During the visit, tensions flared as traders from both sides engaged in heated arguments. Traders associated with the Jai Kisan market alleged irregularities in shop allotments at the APMC yard, claiming that some allottees were not genuine traders and had leased shops at high rents, leaving long-time traders without space.

They also said the Jai Kisan market had attracted more farmers due to better services and that its closure had disrupted the established marketing system. The minister assured traders that the matter would be discussed with local MLAs and the district minister to find a practical solution benefiting both traders and farmers.
