Belagavi, Nov 8: Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar chaired the Belagavi Airport Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday to review the progress and future plans for airport development.

During the meeting, officials provided details about the existing flight services operated by IndiGo and Star Airlines. The MP instructed them to consider introducing new flight routes from Belagavi to Pune, Chennai, Jodhpur, and Tirupati to meet public demand.

Highlighting the frequent traffic congestion on the route from the city to the airport, Shettar informed that ₹50 crore has been sanctioned by the state government to upgrade the stretch into a four-lane road. He assured that the work would begin soon to ensure smoother access for passengers.
Shettar also reviewed the progress of the new terminal building construction and directed officials to complete it within the scheduled timeframe. Additionally, discussions were held on the proposal to upgrade Belagavi Airport to international status.
The meeting was attended by Airport Director Tyagarajan and committee members Rahul Muchandi, Hanumant Kagalakar, Snehal Kolkar, Bhadra, Raju Desai, Jayasing Rajput, and Bharat Deshpande.
