Belagavi Airport Set for Major Expansion and New Flight Services
Belagavi is all set to see a major boost in air travel services and airport infrastructure. In a high-level meeting chaired by Belagavi MP Shri Jagadish Shettar, key decisions were taken to improve air connectivity and support the city’s growing demand for flights.

The meeting brought together top officials, including District Collector Shri Mohammed Roshan, Assistant Commissioner Shri Shravana, and representatives from the Revenue Department, Indian Air Force, Airport Authority, and private airlines such as Indigo and Star Airlines.
New Flight Routes Announced
During the meeting, Indigo Airlines confirmed that it would soon start direct flight services to Pune. This route has been one of the most requested by the public. In addition, Star Airlines announced its plans to launch flights to Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Chennai. These new connections aim to make travel easier for both business and leisure passengers.
Plans for International Upgrade
Furthermore, discussions were held about upgrading Belagavi Airport to international status. District Collector Shri Mohammed Roshan emphasized the importance of this move. According to him, converting the airport would open up more global travel opportunities and attract investment to the region.
Infrastructure Improvements Underway
In addition to new flight routes, the meeting also addressed road infrastructure. The Belgaum-Sambra road, which connects the city to the airport, will be widened to four lanes. This project is expected to improve passenger safety and reduce travel time.
Moreover, terminal buildings are currently under construction at the airport. These modern facilities will enhance the passenger experience and support the increase in air traffic.
