Belagavi: The long-pending proposal to transfer residential areas within the Belagavi Cantonment limits to the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) has once again gained momentum. Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh chaired a virtual review meeting on Wednesday and directed officials to expedite consultations and submit a clear outcome within the next two weeks.

The process had remained stalled for several months due to differing views on the exact extent of residential areas to be transferred. Earlier, the BCC had submitted detailed inputs to the district administration, following which a proposal was forwarded to the state government. Further discussions involving the district commissioner and city officials are expected before a final decision is taken.
