Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar inaugurated two significant tributes ahead of the winter session at Suvarna Soudha on Monday. They unveiled the logo for the centenary celebration of the 1924 Belagavi Congress Session, presided over by Mahatma Gandhi, and a grand oil painting of the historic Anubhava Mantapa.
Honoring Belagavi’s Historical Significance
The logo commemorates 100 years since Mahatma Gandhi chaired the historic Congress session in Belagavi. This event, held in 1924, marked Gandhi’s only presidency at a Congress session, making it a moment of great historical importance. The unveiled logo symbolizes the values of democracy, unity, and Karnataka’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
Significance of the Anubhava Mantapa
The Anubhava Mantapa, established by Basavanna in the 12th century, is regarded as the foundation of parliamentary democracy. The newly unveiled painting artistically captures its essence, showcasing its relevance to modern governance and the state’s cultural heritage. Located prominently within Suvarna Soudha, the painting serves as a reminder of Karnataka’s rich legacy of fostering dialogue and inclusivity.
