Belagavi Tops State with 14 Agriculture Awards

Belagavi: Belagavi district has secured the top position in the state by winning the highest number of agriculture awards this year. A total of 14 farmers from the district were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the agriculture sector. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented the awards at the recently held International Trade Fair in Bengaluru.

Of the total awardees, 11 farmers received awards for 2024-25, one woman farmer was honoured for 2022-23, and two women farmers were recognised for 2023-24.

The awards were presented as part of the government’s crop competition initiative conducted at the state, district, and taluk levels to encourage higher agricultural productivity. In Belagavi district, maize, soybean, and paddy were the key crops selected for the competition.

State-level winners received cash prizes of Rs 50,000 for first place, Rs 40,000 for second place, and Rs 35,000 for third place, along with certificates and plaques.

Joint Director of Agriculture HD Kolekar said farmers in Belagavi are adopting innovative farming practices and achieving high yields. He added that the 14 awardees have brought pride to the district’s farming community, making Belagavi the leading district in the state for agriculture awards.
