Belagavi Excise Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for illegally storing and selling Goa liquor during the Holi festival, when liquor sales were banned in the district.

The accused has been identified as Arun Raju Waghmore, a resident of Mutnal village. According to officials, he had stocked various brands of Goa liquor and beer in a shed on the outskirts of the village, allegedly planning to sell them during the festival to make quick profits.
Acting on credible information, excise officials who were on patrol in the Halaga village limits conducted a raid on a tin shed located near National Highway-4 at Mutnal village (Hirebagewadi area). During the raid, the team found the accused illegally storing and selling liquor.

The police seized 553.96 litres of Goa liquor and 23.4 litres of beer, with a total estimated value of ₹3,77,500, and registered a case against the accused.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of Excise Deputy Superintendent Ravi M. Muragoda, along with Excise Inspector Dundappa Hakki and staff member Sunil Patil.
