The racket, operating from Kumar Hall on Bauxite Road, was busted on November 11, leading to the detention of 33 suspects and the seizure of 37 laptops and 38 mobile phones. Device analysis later revealed the group had allegedly duped more than 85 American citizens through spoofed calls.

Police also arrested the hall owner, Aizaz Gulamhussain Khan, and another accused, Taufiq Mohammadsab Sheikh, in the following days. All suspects are from other states. Two masterminds—one from West Bengal and another from Gujarat—have been identified as key operators behind the fraud.

Given the international nature of the scam and the use of advanced techniques like cloud-based software and VPN masking, city police sought CID support for coordination with Interpol and additional technical expertise.

Following orders from the DG & IGP, Bengaluru, the case has now officially been handed over to the CID.
