Belagavi Flyover Construction Begins October 2025

Belagavi, June 6, 2025 – Belagavi is gearing up for a major infrastructure upgrade. The long-awaited flyover connecting the National Highway near Sankam to the Third Railway Gate via Rani Channamma Circle will finally take shape. Karnataka Public Works and District In-Charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that construction will begin in October 2025.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the project, which aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city’s core areas.
Flyover Will Come Up in Two Phases
During a session with the District Journalists’ Association, Minister Jarkiholi explained the project will unfold in two phases. He assured that the Public Works Department (PWD) will follow strict quality standards during construction.
“We are building roads that will last for at least five years. This flyover will improve traffic flow and enhance connectivity across Belagavi,” he said.
Additional Infrastructure Projects in the Pipeline
Minister Jarkiholi also shared updates on several ongoing and upcoming development works in Belagavi:
- New Deputy Commissioner’s Office: Construction will start soon.
- Belagavi-Dharwad Railway Line: Authorities have completed land acquisition.
- Belagavi Ring Road: Officials have acquired over 80% of the land and completed compensation.
- District Sports Complex: Work is underway at Ramtheerth Nagar with a ₹10 crore budget.
- Anganwadi Expansion: The government has approved 257 new Anganwadi buildings.
- Healthcare Projects: Two 100-bed hospitals will come up in Saundatti and Athani. Funding approval is expected shortly.
Goa-Belagavi Highway Widening Faces Delays
The widening of the Goa-Belagavi highway continues to face obstacles. The Forest Department has yet to grant clearance, despite the government spending ₹50 crore. As a result, traffic congestion remains a major concern.
