NH-748: A Vital Link for Belagavi
Earlier known as NH-4A, NH-748 covers 153 km, connecting NH-48 near Belagavi to NH-66 near Panaji, Goa. The route plays a crucial role in moving people and goods from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana to Goa. This makes Belagavi a key gateway city.
What’s Coming Up
The Panaji–Khandepar corridor will soon become a four-lane highway with paved shoulders. To ease congestion in Bhoma, Corlim, and Ella, the plan includes:
- Two elevated corridors totaling 4.275 km
- 7-metre-wide service roads on both sides
These changes aim to reduce travel time, improve road safety, and ensure smoother traffic flow.
Impact on Belagavi and the Region
The upgraded road will boost trade, tourism, and logistics. Businesses and travelers in Belagavi and nearby areas will enjoy faster access to Goa. The project is set to strengthen economic activity and promote regional development.
Government’s Commitment to Better Roads
This project shows the government’s focus on better infrastructure under Shri Nitin Gadkari’s leadership. The new road design promises safer and more efficient travel, making it a win for both commuters and businesses.
