The project teams are re-asphalting key sections between Kinaye, Jamboti, and Kankumbi, with 14 km already nearing completion. Workers have also started building a new bridge over the Malprabha River near Kusmalli. This new bridge will replace the 125-year-old British-era structure, which was on the verge of collapse. Teams are creating a temporary diversion to manage traffic during construction.
High-Level Monitoring Ensures Progress
Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan is personally monitoring the project’s progress. MP and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar recently led a high-level review meeting to accelerate the work. NHAI and Karnataka PWD officials are actively ensuring timely completion and maintaining quality standards.
Funding and Timeline
The government allocated ₹58 crore for the project in February 2024. This initiative is part of larger regional infrastructure upgrades, including the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad railway line and the Halaga-Machche bypass on NH748.
Upcoming Benefits
The upgraded road will save time and improve safety for travelers. Commuters can look forward to a smoother, more comfortable journey between Belagavi and Goa. Authorities expect to complete the project by February 2025, significantly improving connectivity and convenience.
Stay tuned for updates on this vital project!
