Belagavi MP Jagadish Shetter met South Western Railway (SWR) officials in Hubballi. He discussed several railway projects and urged the team to take quick action to benefit the people of Belagavi.

Road Issue in Sulebavi Village
To begin with, Shetter raised a serious concern about a poorly constructed road near LC No. 79/A in Sulebavi. As a result, many farmers are struggling to reach their fields. He asked officials to inspect the road and create a proper connecting route. In response, they agreed to send senior engineers and suggest a better solution.
Land Disputes at Ghataprabha Station
In addition, Shetter highlighted problems near Ghataprabha railway station. Several landowners have received repeated notices, even though they hold valid documents. He urged the railway department to stop sending such notices. Furthermore, he requested them to check the ownership records properly. The officials agreed to take fair and transparent action.
New Railway Lines: Progress and Promise
Moreover, the MP asked about progress on two important routes:
- The Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad line is nearly ready for construction, as the tender process is almost complete.
- A survey for the Lokapura–Ramadurga–Savadatti–Dharwad route is already in progress.
He explained that both lines would improve regional travel and boost economic activity.
Train Service Requests
Shetter also made several requests for improved train services. He proposed:
- Extending the Vande Bharat Express from Dharwad to Belagavi
- Restarting the Belagavi–Manuguru Express, which had been cancelled earlier
- Launching a MEMU train between Belagavi and Miraj
Notably, officials confirmed that they had already sent these proposals to the Railway Board. They expressed hope for quick approvals.
Urban Bridge Projects in Belagavi
Furthermore, the MP asked about the construction of bridges at LC Nos. 381, 382, and 383 in Belagavi city. Officials explained that the tendering process is ongoing and the work will start soon.

In conclusion, the meeting was fruitful. Shetter received strong support from railway officials. They promised to follow up on each issue raised. With continued efforts, the MP hopes that these developments will greatly benefit the people of Belagavi.
