Ahead of the upcoming Assembly Session in Belagavi, the district administration is considering a complete ban on protests at the heavily congested Rani Channamma Circle. District Commissioner Mohammad Roshan and City Corporation Commissioner Kartik conducted an inspection of the junction on Thursday to assess traffic issues and the impact of frequent demonstrations.
The central city junction witnesses thousands of vehicles daily, and protests often lead to severe traffic jams, delaying ambulances, students, and office-goers. With senior officials, including Police Superintendent Dr. Bhimashankar Guled, reviewing preparations, the administration aims to ensure smooth movement for citizens and government representatives during the session.

Social groups and advocates, including Sachin Bicchu, had recently demanded that the circle be declared a protest-free zone, warning of legal action due to repeated public inconvenience.
For years, major locations like Sangolli Rayanna Circle, Y-Junction, and College Road have faced closures during demonstrations, prompting calls for a dedicated protest area. With increasing pressure from the public and rising disruptions, the administration is expected to take a decisive step soon.
