Belagavi Police Arrest Bike Thieves, Recover 27 Bikes

Belagavi, April 6:
In a major breakthrough, the Belagavi district police have arrested two interstate bike thieves involved in multiple theft cases across Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The accused have been identified as Laxman Virupakshi Kanabaragi (31) and Fakirappa Karigar (25), both residents of Gokak. They were apprehended by the Sankeshwar police.

During the operation, police recovered 27 motorcycles worth ₹18.3 lakh, which includes 26 stolen bikes and one vehicle used for committing the crimes.

According to officials, the accused were involved in thefts reported in Sankeshwar town, Bailhongal, Belagavi city, and Chandgad police limits in Maharashtra.

The accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

The successful operation was carried out under the leadership of CPI S.M. Avaji, PSI S.S. Shettinnavar, PSI Vitthal Nayak, along with ASI L.S. Khot and other staff members. The technical team also played a key role in tracking the accused.
