Belagavi City Police conducted a special operation against the sale and use of harmful manja kite threads, which pose serious risks to the public and vehicle riders. The operation was carried out following instructions to all city police stations to take strict action against the use of such dangerous kite strings.

During the raid, Tilakwadi Police seized 3 rolls of manja thread from a stationery shop in Anagol, owned by Shubham Sonwalkar. In another operation, Shahapur Police confiscated 8 rolls from a minor found flying kites using the thread in the Navi Galli area.
In total, 11 rolls of manja thread were seized, and cases have been registered under the Karnataka Police Act.
Officials have also issued warnings to shop owners not to sell such harmful materials and advised parents to ensure their children refrain from using manja threads to prevent accidents and injuries.
