Over the past week, Chikodi, Gokak, Bailhongal and Athani towns observed day-long bandhs, while delegations led by religious leaders met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urging an immediate decision. However, the government has neither approved nor rejected the proposal, stating that a decision will be taken only after consulting all 18 MLAs from Belagavi district and arriving at a unanimous consensus.

Supporters of the division have warned that this could be the last opportunity, as the Election Commission is expected to freeze the creation of new districts and taluks ahead of the upcoming delimitation exercise. Meanwhile, the demand has expanded to include more towns such as Savadatti, further complicating the issue.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said the matter is sensitive and cannot be decided hastily, assuring that discussions with legislators will be held. With the movement gaining momentum and positions evolving among various organisations, pressure on the government to act during the ongoing winter session continues to mount.
