Railway Line Project Set to Begin
The Belagavi–Kittur–Dharwad railway line, approved in 2019 during the tenure of late MP Suresh Angadi, is now ready for implementation. Land acquisition has been completed, and authorities are preparing to launch construction of the 73-kilometer route. This project promises to strengthen regional rail links.
Halaga–Macche Bypass Work Resumes
After a long hiatus, work has resumed on the Halaga–Macche bypass, which connects Pune–Bengaluru NH-4 with the Belagavi–Goa highway. Although sanctioned in 2009, the project remained on hold due to legal hurdles. However, proactive efforts by the district administration have resolved landowner issues, clearing the path for construction.
Steady Progress on Ring Road
Simultaneously, the ₹3,800 crore Belagavi Ring Road project, launched under the Bharatmala Pariyojana in 2018, continues to gain ground. Officials have already acquired 80% of the land for the initial 34-kilometer phase. With ₹1,622 crore allocated, the project aims to reduce city traffic congestion significantly.
Strong Leadership Accelerates Development
MP Mangala Angadi has played a pivotal role in driving these delayed projects forward. Through frequent review meetings, engagement with Union Ministers, and consistent site inspections, she has ensured steady progress. As a result, the tendering process is expected to start within the next five to six months.
Meanwhile, District Commissioner Mohammed Roshan has also earned praise for actively resolving land-related bottlenecks.
Upcoming Projects Show Promise
Additionally, the ₹1,452 crore Belagavi–Hunagund–Raichur highway project is close to completing land acquisition. Furthermore, construction of a new terminal at Belagavi Airport is advancing well. Officials expect to complete the terminal by March 2026, which will enhance capacity and move the airport closer to international standards.
With political will, administrative coordination, and community support, Belagavi is poised for a major leap in infrastructure development.
