The decision was taken during a standing committee meeting chaired by Mayor Preeti Kamkar. Members raised concerns over widespread encroachments by street vendors and the public, which are obstructing roads and footpaths despite major infrastructure investments under the Smart City project.
Municipal Commissioner Karthik M said traders have been repeatedly warned and must remove encroachments by April 14, failing which strict action will begin without further notice.

Corporators also expressed anger over poor coordination with HESCOM, citing frequent power disruptions, unfinished road works, and negligence in underground cable projects. A decision was made to report the issue to higher authorities.
Additionally, officials criticized the forest department for failing to remove dangerous trees despite repeated complaints.
