Belagavi: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday said that the State government is committed to ensuring the all-round development of Belagavi on the lines of the State capital, Bengaluru. He expressed happiness over visiting the city and said its climate is even better than Bengaluru at times.

He was speaking after flagging off a Swachchata Run near Fort Lake in Belagavi. Urban Development and Urban Planning Minister Byrathi Suresh, who also addressed the gathering, said the government has implemented several projects for the city’s development and has given priority to cleanliness in urban areas.

Highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean environment, Byrathi Suresh said waste disposal is being carried out scientifically and efforts are underway to ensure more cities, including Belagavi, feature among the cleanest cities in the country.
A large number of people, including youth, women, and senior citizens, participated enthusiastically in the cleanliness run.
