Belagavi is set to receive two new solid waste management facilities to meet the needs of the city’s expanding limits, announced Karnataka PWD Minister and district in-charge Satish Jarkiholi. He directed officials to begin work at the earliest during a quarterly progress review meeting held at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on November 29.

The Minister instructed officials to speed up all works taken up under MP and MLA Local Area Development grants and ensure proper maintenance of related documents. He added that the Deputy Commissioner and Zilla Panchayat CEO had been told to monitor key departments and submit detailed reports to legislators to accelerate pending projects.
Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi emphasised the need for proper utilisation of MLA and MP development funds and timely submission of compliance reports. He also noted that the district administration was strictly following Supreme Court guidelines on noise restrictions during public events. Kadadi appreciated officials for completing the Backward Classes Commission’s social and educational survey on time.

NWKRTC Chairperson and MLA Raju Kage urged the government to take up restoration of fertile land affected by over-irrigation and ensure timely distribution of drip irrigation subsidies. He said 300 new buses will soon be introduced to improve rural connectivity.
MLA Mahantesh Kaujalagi called for filling vacant anganwadi assistant posts and taking action against contractors delaying irrigation works. Kadadi further requested faster work on the ESI Hospital in Belagavi and urged the opening of procurement centres for black gram, green gram, and soya, along with filling vacancies in urban water supply departments.
MLA Asif (Raju) Sait urged officials to send a proposal to the State Government for purchasing an additional MRI machine for the Belagavi super-speciality hospital.
