Preparations are in full swing in Belagavi city as it gears up to host the Karnataka Assembly Winter Session from December 9 to 20 at the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha. Extensive Road Repairs and Beautification
The district administration has launched a citywide effort to address long-standing infrastructure issues. Workers are asphalting pothole-ridden stretches, cleaning main city roads, and repainting dividers for a fresh look. Roads leading to the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha are also being cleared of debris and leveled for smooth travel. Additionally, bridges and dividers are receiving vibrant coats of paint, while public enclosure walls along major roads are adorned with attractive designs to uplift the city’s appearance.
In particular, the Belagavi-Goa road has seen significant improvements. Workers have asphalted a 10-kilometer stretch from Kankumbi to Jamboti, ensuring smoother connectivity for travelers. These efforts not only improve functionality but also enhance the visual appeal of the city.
Residents Welcome the Changes
Citizens have expressed a mix of relief and frustration regarding the sudden flurry of activity. “No one addresses our civic issues for 11 months, but everything changes just before the Winter Session,” one resident remarked. Despite the timing, many have appreciated the much-needed improvements to the city’s roads and public spaces.
With crores of rupees invested under the Smart City scheme, residents hope these changes last beyond the legislative session. The administration has pledged to ensure that all preparations are completed on time and that the event proceeds without disruptions.
