Belagavi: Belagavi police have arrested two youths for celebrating a birthday by cutting a cake with a sword at a public place and sharing the video on social media.

According to police, Zaid Noor Ahmed Sanadi and Tabrez Hanif Khadri arrived on a motorcycle and stopped near the HP petrol pump along NH-48 on the outskirts of MK Hubballi. Without obtaining any permission, they placed cakes at the public spot and used a sword to cut them while celebrating the birthday.
The incident was recorded and later uploaded on Instagram by Rehan Mustaq Ahmed Badeghar, following which the video came to the attention of the police.
Kittur Police have registered a case (Crime No. 68/2026) under Sections 25 and 27 of the Indian Arms Act, 1959. The accused have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
Police have warned the public against engaging in dangerous acts in public places for social media attention and stated that strict action will be taken against such violations.
