Bengaluru Meet Soon on APMC–Jai Kisan Dispute

Belagavi: District In-charge Minister and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi has announced that a meeting will soon be convened in Bengaluru with Agriculture Marketing Minister Shivanand Patil to address the ongoing dispute between traders of the Belagavi APMC wholesale vegetable market and the Jai Kisan private market.

Speaking at a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Jarkiholi said the Belagavi APMC vegetable market enjoys a strong reputation across the country and it is the responsibility of both APMC and Jai Kisan traders to uphold its name. He emphasized that the issue cannot be resolved overnight and urged traders from both markets to carry out business in coordination.

The minister directed the APMC secretary to allot vacant shops to traders who have shifted from the private market to the APMC premises. He also stated that the government would discuss the possibility of establishing an additional wholesale vegetable market within the APMC limits in the interest of farmers.

MLA Asif (Raju) Sait, Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan, Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, SP K. Ramarajan, APMC Secretary Vishwanath Reddy, and traders from both markets were present at the meeting.
