The protesters assembled at Rani Channamma Circle and marched to the Deputy Commissioner’s office, raising slogans against the Congress-led State government. BJP leaders alleged that the Bill violates the constitutional right to freedom of expression and has an unclear definition of hate speech, which could lead to its misuse.
Claiming that the legislation could target common citizens and political opponents, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner, urging him to withhold assent to the Bill.

BJP leaders including Sanjay Patil, M.B. Zirli, Mahantesh Vakkund, Murughendragouda Patil, Leena Topannanavar, Deepa Kudchi and others participated in the protest.
