The march began from Malini City Grounds amid heavy police deployment. Protesters accused the Congress government of ignoring farmer distress, especially issues related to sugarcane and maize pricing.
Vijayendra alleged that internal conflicts within the ruling Congress had led to “policy paralysis,” preventing the government from addressing urgent agricultural problems. He criticised the State for offering only ₹50 per tonne to sugarcane farmers despite Karnataka being a major producer.

Opposition leaders claimed that although compensation for crop loss was announced, not a single farmer had received it, forcing many to sell produce at distress prices.
Reacting to the protest, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said BJP leaders should raise these matters inside the legislature. He blamed the Centre for not supporting farmers, particularly on sugarcane price issues, and insisted that the State government had already extended its share of support.
