Cabinet Approves ₹275 Cr Flyover Project for Belagavi

Belagavi: The Karnataka Cabinet has approved a ₹275.53 crore project to construct a 2.03-km-long flyover in Belagavi city, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving urban connectivity. The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.

According to sources, the flyover will be constructed from National Highway-48 to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle, providing smoother traffic flow on one of the city’s busiest stretches.

Along with the Belagavi flyover, the Cabinet cleared several major development projects across the state. In Belagavi district, approval was granted for a ₹210 crore lift irrigation project to draw water from the Krishna River and supply it through the Rayabag distribution canal to irrigate areas in Rayabag and Chikkodi taluks.

In Bagalkote district, the Cabinet approved the revised estimate of ₹1,503 crore for the Kerur lift irrigation project covering Badami and Bilagi Assembly constituencies. Another lift irrigation project, the Srikarasisiddeshwar scheme, received approval with an estimated cost of ₹198.90 crore to supply water to the Chikkodi branch canal.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a GTTC (Government Tool Room and Training Centre) in Madhugiri taluk, including construction of buildings at a cost of ₹73.75 crore. In Raichur district, a ₹990 crore project was cleared to provide irrigation facilities to Pavakallur and surrounding areas of Maski taluk using water from the Narayanapura Right Bank Canal.

Additionally, a ₹272 crore lift irrigation project was approved to fill 19 lakes in Yelburga and Kukanur taluks. The Cabinet also gave its nod to the Karnataka District Judiciary Reforms Bill-2025, which will be tabled in both Houses of the Legislature on Friday.

In a major urban infrastructure decision, the Cabinet approved three PPP packages worth ₹1,714.83 crore for a period of 15 years to collect, transport and process 750 tonnes per day of construction and demolition waste (out of 2,250 TPD generated daily) within the Greater Bengaluru Authority limits.

The approvals reflect the government’s focus on strengthening urban infrastructure, irrigation facilities and institutional capacity across Karnataka.
