The Belagavi district administration has made it mandatory for all auto rickshaws operating in the city to install digital fare meters within the next 60 days.
District Collector Mohammad Roshan, while speaking to reporters at the District Collector’s Office, said that instructions regarding auto-rickshaw regulation had been issued six months ago. This new directive gives the Regional Transport Office (RTO) a strict timeline to ensure that all vehicles comply.

In addition to meter installation, the City Police Department has been instructed to take action against auto rickshaws that are parked arbitrarily on city roads. The Collector emphasized that enforcement will be strict this time, ensuring transparency in fares and better traffic management.
The initiative aims to protect passengers from overcharging and improve traffic discipline in Belagavi city.
