Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday inaugurated the state-level Soil Health and Integrated Water Management in Sugarcane Growing Areas project for 2025–26 at Hudali village near Belagavi.

The project aims to promote scientific soil management and efficient water use to enhance sugarcane productivity, reduce input costs, and encourage sustainable farming practices. Addressing farmers, the chief minister stressed the need to reduce excessive use of fertilisers and adopt modern agricultural technologies focused on soil health.

The initiative will be implemented across major sugarcane-growing districts including Belagavi, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, and Mandya. On the occasion, soil health certificates, tissue-culture sugarcane seedlings, and work orders for agricultural machinery were distributed to farmers.
