Collector orders steps to curb traffic congestion

Belagavi: District Collector Mohammed Roshan has directed officials to take concrete and effective measures to control increasing traffic congestion at major locations in the city and to initiate strict action against traffic rule violators.

Speaking at the Road Safety Committee meeting held at the District Collector’s office, he said unchecked traffic jams were causing inconvenience to the public and increasing the risk of accidents. He instructed the police and transport department to strengthen monitoring at busy junctions and ensure smooth traffic flow during peak hours.

The Collector also emphasized the need to create adequate parking facilities at required locations and to identify vacant plots across the city. He said owners of such vacant land should be requested to allow their spaces to be used for vehicle parking to ease congestion.

He further directed officials to improve road signage, ensure proper lane discipline, and create public awareness on traffic rules to enhance overall road safety in the city.
