Speaking at the MNREGA Bachao convention held in front of the Congress Bhavan in Belagavi, Gopinath alleged that the Centre has taken away implementation powers from gram panchayats and centralized them in Delhi, adversely affecting rural employment and reducing the authority of state governments.

DCC Bank Director Rahul Jarakiholi also criticized the Centre, claiming that the BJP is trying to erase Mahatma Gandhi’s name and dilute a scheme crucial for rural development. He alleged that changes made by the Modi-led government are impacting the livelihoods of rural poor.
