The protest was led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar, along with several ministers, MLAs and MLCs. The leaders boycotted Assembly proceedings and held a sit-in protest for over an hour, raising slogans against the Central government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the Enforcement Directorate.

Congress leaders alleged that central agencies were misused to target opposition leaders by filing false cases against party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. They termed the court’s order as a setback to the BJP.
Due to the protest, the winter session proceedings at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha were delayed by about one-and-a-half hours.
