Crocodile, Snake Enclosures Soon at Belagavi Zoo

Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Eshwar B. Khandre has announced that crocodile and reptile enclosures will soon be opened at the Kittur Rani Chennamma Mini Zoo at Bhutramanhatti in Belagavi district.

After inspecting the progress of the works, the Minister said a crocodile enclosure is being developed at a cost of ₹50 lakh, while a reptile enclosure is being built at a cost of ₹40.8 lakh. Soon, two crocodiles and 12 snakes, including python and other species, will be housed in the new enclosures.

He also said an indoor theatre has been constructed to screen documentaries on wildlife and the zoo for visitors and will be inaugurated shortly. Several development works, including visitor parking facilities and a statue of Kittur Rani Chennamma, are being taken up at a total cost of ₹5.85 crore. Most of the works are expected to be completed by the first week of January.

The Minister expressed confidence that the new facilities would attract more tourists to the zoo in the coming days.
