Belagavi: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan on Monday inspected the Hala–Mache bypass following strong objections from local farmers. The farmers had alleged illegal work, errors in land acquisition, and severe waterlogging in their fields.
During the site visit, farmers demanded that the bypass project be cancelled, claiming it was damaging fertile land.

Responding to their concerns, the DC assured three key actions:
- Re-survey of all disputed land parcels
- Technical measures to resolve waterlogging issues
- Providing all documents required for the ongoing court case
Roshan clarified that the project work resumed only after directions from the High Court, as it had remained stalled for nearly a decade. He said the administration will address farmers’ concerns within the framework of the law.
Officials from the district administration and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) accompanied the DC during the inspection.
