Highlighting that Belagavi is one of the largest districts in the state, the DC stressed the need to cover agricultural labourers, MGNREGA workers, anganwadi workers and helpers, Akshara Dasoha cooks, street vendors, construction workers, and other skill-based workers under the scheme. He directed departments, local bodies, and labour organisations to work in coordination and create widespread awareness in both rural and urban areas.

Assistant Labour Commissioner K.B. Nagaraj informed that the central government has implemented the PM Shram Yogi Maandhan scheme to provide social security to unorganised workers during old age. Eligible workers between 18 and 40 years, with a monthly income below ₹15,000 and not covered under EPF, ESI, NPS, or income tax, can register at Common Service Centres (CSCs) using their Aadhaar card. The scheme assures a fixed monthly pension of ₹3,000 after attaining the age of 60.

Senior district officials and representatives from various labour unions were present at the meeting.
