Speaking to reporters in Yedur village of Chikkodi taluk on Thursday, Shivakumar said the state government is committed to the development of North Karnataka. He said the government has decided to allocate ₹70,000 crore for land acquisition required for the project, calling it a major decision.

He also urged the central government to intervene and stop opposition to the project from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Responding to criticism by BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, who had termed the state government “inefficient,” Shivakumar said people had elected a capable government after the previous administration failed to deliver.

Meanwhile, Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil said allegations of irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) would be investigated.

He also noted that ongoing global conflicts could impact the state’s industrial sector and said he has been holding regular meetings with industrialists to assess the situation.
