Farmer leader Chunappa Pujeri alleged that sugar factories in the state have not cleared the dues for sugarcane supplied by farmers and are delaying payments by giving various excuses.
He said the government had fixed the price of sugarcane at ₹3,300 per tonne, but several factories have not paid the amount as per the announced rate. Pujeri also claimed that although the government provided ₹300 crore as subsidy, the factories have not passed the benefit on to farmers.

The protesters warned that if their demands are not met soon, they will intensify their agitation and demanded that criminal cases be filed against the owners of sugar factories responsible for delaying payments.
Several farmer leaders, including Mahesh Subedar, Somu Biradar, Eeranna Sasalatti, and Sangamesh Sagar, participated in the protest.
Farmers also cooked food at the protest site and raised slogans against the state government, expressing their anger over the delay in payments. Police deployed tight security at the protest location.
