Hill Littered with Plastic and Old Clothes
Visuals from the temple hill show plastic water bottles, food wrappers and heaps of discarded old clothes scattered across the area. It is a long-standing tradition for devotees to leave behind old clothes while seeking relief from ailments or fulfilling vows. However, the practice has resulted in large piles of cloth waste accumulating across the hill.
No Permanent Waste Management System?
Despite the temple reportedly collecting lakhs of rupees in offerings every year, devotees allege that there is no permanent and effective waste disposal system in place. Several tonnes of garbage are said to be generated daily, yet timely clearance remains inconsistent.

Questions Over Development Funds
Both the Central and State governments have announced development grants ranging from ₹100 crore to ₹200 crore for Savadatti. However, devotees question why basic cleanliness and waste management infrastructure are still lacking at one of the region’s most revered pilgrimage centres.
The situation has sparked debate over accountability and the urgent need for sustainable waste management measures at the temple hill.
