Court Verdict Clears Path for Construction
Farmers had demanded the halt of the project, citing irregularities in land surveys and inadequate compensation. On Monday, NHAI officials, led by Special Land Acquisition Officer Balram Chavan, inspected the site to address these concerns. The officials assured affected farmers that discrepancies would be rectified. Despite the court’s ruling, farmer leaders, including Raju Marve, announced plans to challenge the verdict in a higher civil court.
Bypass to Ease Traffic and Save Time
With the court’s decision, the construction team has accelerated their efforts. Once completed, the bypass will significantly reduce traffic congestion in Belagavi city and cut travel time for commuters traveling between Goa, Pune, Hyderabad, and Dharwad. The Halga-Mache bypass on NH748A will serve as a vital link, streamlining movement and boosting regional trade.
In addition to easing traffic, the project will contribute to economic growth by facilitating smoother transportation of goods and services. Residents and frequent travelers have long awaited this development, as they expect it to save time and enhance safety by reducing the volume of heavy vehicles passing through city areas.
The next few weeks will reveal whether the farmers’ appeal impacts the project timeline. However, NHAI officials remain optimistic about completing the bypass as planned, ensuring that it meets the region’s growing infrastructure needs.
