Hidkal Dam Water Supply Plan

To ensure an uninterrupted drinking water supply, the government has implemented a phased water release strategy.

Drinking Water Priority

Minister Satish Jarkiholi has instructed officials to monitor and manage water distribution effectively. He emphasized that only drinking water needs should be met with this supply and urged farmers not to use it for irrigation. Authorities will take strict action against misuse.

Extended Water Release from April 1

After the initial six-day release, the government will continue supplying water through canals for 10 more days. This step will help provide drinking water for both people and livestock in rural areas.

Daily Water Management

Officials release 4,000 cusecs of water daily from Hidkal Dam. To supplement this, they are also drawing extra supply from the Kotbagi, Kalamaddy, and Ramalingeshwar lift irrigation systems. The government is optimizing all available resources to fulfill drinking water needs.

Authorities Urge Responsible Water Usage

With rising summer temperatures and increasing demand, officials have urged residents to use water wisely and prevent wastage. The government is closely monitoring the situation and will take further steps if necessary.

This water release from Hidkal Dam will provide significant relief to residents facing shortages. Authorities assure the public that they are working on long-term solutions for a sustainable water supply in Belagavi and nearby areas.
