Horatti stated that a discussion regarding the session had already been held with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has agreed to the proposed schedule. He emphasized that two days — Wednesday and Thursday — will be reserved to discuss issues related to North Karnataka, ensuring that the problems and development needs of the region receive due attention.

Expressing disappointment, Horatti said that while legislators from South Karnataka actively participate in debates concerning their region, those from North Karnataka often fail to raise local issues. He urged elected representatives to make the most of the Belagavi session, which is primarily meant to address the concerns of the northern districts.

Horatti also voiced concern about the increasing role of money in politics, saying there is an urgent need to bring change in the political system. “People have to stop voting after taking money, but it seems to be a difficult task. People with ethics contesting elections are easily defeated,” he remarked.

The winter session in Belagavi is an important annual event aimed at decentralizing legislative activities and ensuring representation for the northern part of the state.
