Why Karnataka-Maharashtra Bus Services Were Suspended
The suspension followed incidents of vandalism in both states. Shiv Sena (UBT) activists defaced NWKRTC buses in Kolhapur and Solapur, while MSRTC buses were targeted in Ilkal and Ramdurg. The attacks were linked to a language dispute, leading to border bus terminals where passengers had to switch buses.
Discussions for Safe Karnataka-Maharashtra Bus Services
NWKRTC officials, along with their Maharashtra counterparts, discussed bus safety and operation schedules. Authorities have shared details of miscreants involved in the attacks and agreed on measures to prevent future disruptions.
Police Action and Service Resumption
NWKRTC Managing Director Priyanga M. met with police officials, urging action on 63 cases of assault on NWKRTC staff. She emphasized that many minor disputes escalated into violent clashes and called for proper investigations.
Conductor Recovers, NWKRTC Faces Losses
Meanwhile, conductor Mahadev Hukkeri, who was injured in an attack, has been discharged and advised to rest. The NWKRTC estimates a loss of ₹40 lakh due to the four-day service suspension.
With security measures in place, authorities expect Karnataka-Maharashtra bus services to fully resume soon, ensuring safe and smooth travel for passengers.
