Knife Attack in Belagavi Leaves Five Injured

Belagavi: Tension gripped Belagavi on Sunday after five people were injured in a knife attack during Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations near Laxmi Complex in Sadashivanagar.

According to police, a group of miscreants attacked participants in the procession, stabbing five individuals before fleeing the scene. Two of the victims sustained serious injuries.

The injured have been identified as Gurunath Vakkund, Sachin Kamble, Lokesh Betageri, Mahesh Vinayak, and Nazir Pathan — all residents of Nehru Nagar. They were immediately rushed to BIMS Hospital for treatment.

City Police Commissioner Bhushan G. Borase and senior officials visited the hospital and assured strict action against the culprits. Authorities suspect that outsiders may have been involved in the attack and have launched a full-scale investigation to trace those responsible.

Police have increased security in the area to prevent further incidents as the probe continues.
