Maratha Day Celebrated at Regimental Centre, Belagavi

Maratha Day was celebrated with pride at The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, Belagavi, on 04 February 2026. The event reflected the Regiment’s rich legacy and strong traditions.

The celebrations began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Sharqat War Memorial. The Commandant led the tribute, joined by serving officers, JCOs, ORs and veterans. Together, they honoured the fallen heroes of the Regiment.

Thereafter, the main programme took place at the Regimental Centre PT Ground. Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, Commandant, and Mrs Mrinalini Mukherjee, President, Family Welfare Organisation, presided over the Barakhana. Senior officers, civil dignitaries, veterans, families and civil staff attended the event, strengthening ties between the Regiment and the civil community.

Meanwhile, the programme featured an impressive martial arts display that showcased discipline and the warrior spirit of the Regiment. This was followed by cultural and musical performances highlighting India’s diverse heritage. In addition, the organisers felicitated the performing artistes for their contributions.

As part of the celebrations, Exercise Pehla Kadam was conducted at Turkamatti for Agniveers. A total of 547 Agniveers participated from 02 to 04 February 2026, followed by 543 Agniveers from 05 to 07 February 2026. Finally, the exercise concluded with a disciplined route march to the Regimental Centre, symbolising endurance, commitment and tradition.
