NIFTEM establishment in Belagavi
New Delhi, January 10, 2025: Belagavi MP Jagadish Shetter met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today to extend New Year 2025 greetings and discuss a vital development project for the region. The meeting focused on establishing a National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) in Belagavi, a proposal Shetter has been actively championing.

Earlier, Shetter met Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan to push for the proposal. He highlighted the significant benefits the institute would bring, including advancing food technology, promoting entrepreneurship, and empowering farmers and consumers. The project aims to provide local farmers with access to advanced technology and training, enabling them to improve productivity and market reach.
During his discussion with the Finance Minister, Shetter emphasized the urgency of this initiative. He requested swift approvals and funding to ensure timely implementation. The institute would not only enhance the region’s agricultural output but also boost employment opportunities and foster innovation in food processing and management.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman assured Shetter of her support for the proposal. She confirmed that the Ministry of Food Processing Industries would present the plan to her office for final approval. Her assurance has sparked optimism that the project will soon receive the necessary funding and administrative clearances.
